Oklahoma Natural Gas Offers Rebates for Furnace Check-ups, New Appliances

Part of New Energy-Efficiency Program

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sept. 15, 2011 – Getting your furnace inspected and ready for winter can be less expensive this year, thanks to a $30 cash rebate from Oklahoma Natural Gas Company.

The company launched its new energy-efficiency program today that, in addition to the furnace checkup incentive, will provide substantial cash rebates to customers who choose to upgrade to new, more efficient natural gas appliances.

“We are serious about encouraging our customers to be more energy efficient,” said Oklahoma Natural Gas Company President Greg Phillips.  “We believe that natural gas is the best, most efficient and environmentally responsible energy choice for heating your home, heating the water you use and drying your clothes.  We’re excited about this new program that will help our customers make smart appliance choices, allowing them to save money on their utility bills for years to come.”

The Oklahoma Natural Gas energy-efficiency program includes:

• A $30 cash rebate for customers who have their furnaces inspected by a licensed contractor.
• Rebates of up to $850 to upgrade to more efficient natural gas water heaters including tankless water heaters.
• Rebates of up to $1950 for upgrading heating systems to efficient natural gas models.
• Rebates of up to $680 for conversion to natural gas clothes dryers.
• A $750 incentive for building a new home that follows Oklahoma Natural Gas energy efficiency guidelines.

The company also plans to make $250,000 available to social service agencies to help low-income families be more energy efficient.

The rebates are part of an energy-efficiency program authorized by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission to encourage energy efficiency and the use of natural gas when it is the most efficient and economical choice.  The rebates are limited, however, and will be paid on a first-come, first-served basis while funds are available.

Complete program details, qualifications and application forms are available at www.oklahomanaturalgas.com/rebates.

Oklahoma Natural Gas is beginning a multi-media campaign to increase awareness of the benefits of using natural gas and the availability of the rebates.  Customers will also receive information in the October edition of the Natural Gas Matters newsletter included with their bills.
