Where can I find assistance paying my gas bill?
The list below contains the various agencies that offer assistance for utility payments. Please contact the agency and inquire about availability of funds and if you would qualify. We offer this general list as a source of information only and cannot guarantee you will receive assistance.
Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) - LIHEAP is a federally funded heating assistance program administered by DHS for low-income consumers. Call your local DHS office for more information.
Salvation Army - The ""Share the Warmth"" program helps those who can't afford their utility bills. Contact your local Salvation Army chapter for more information.
Oklahoma Department of Veteran Affairs - Veterans or their surviving spouses can apply for assistance. Assistance criteria includes service during time of war and veterans must be honorably discharged. The OKC number is (405) 521-3684.
American Legion - Temporary Financial Assistance (TFA) is available to any military veteran who was honorably discharged and served during certain dates. Military veterans do not need to be a member of the American Legion to qualify for the TFA. Call your local American Legion Post. You can contact the state headquarters for the American Legion at (405) 525-7557.
Churches across the state are doing what they can to help, as well.
Community Action Agencies - Certain county offices serve as the clearinghouse for Salvation Army funds. The state office number for CAA is (405) 524-4124.
