The Oklahoma Natural Gas Multi-family Program encourages natural gas use in multi-family housing developments by defraying builders’ costs of natural gas piping from the meter to the natural gas appliance and required venting for each gas appliance. The program helps offset costs and provides future tenants with efficient energy choices.
The Oklahoma Corporation Commission approved a multi-family inducement program for Oklahoma Natural Gas through Tariff 1083. This program is intended to encourage natural gas usage in multi-family housing developments where installation of natural gas is not considered a cost-effective source of energy.
The cash inducement is based on the actual cost of natural gas piping and venting and shall not exceed the maximum allowable investment calculation for the line extension to the residential multi-unit structure as calculated within Oklahoma Natural Gas Distribution Extension Policy Tariff 1081.
Cash inducements paid by Oklahoma Natural Gas may not exceed $1,000,000 annually and will be provided as available on a first-come, first-served basis with a complete application.
Multi-unit builders may also take advantage of appliance rebates offered through the Oklahoma Natural Gas Energy Efficiency Program.
Properly completed applications must be submitted within 180 days from the date of the unit’s meter set by Oklahoma Natural Gas.
Multi-unit structures are defined as having 4 or more individual units under one roof. To be eligible for this cash inducement, each unit must at a minimum contain:
- installed natural gas furnace
- installed natural gas water heater
- Each unit must be individually metered
